Week 18

On this week, Abdulla was the first and the only one who was ready to present his topic which was about water consumption. His PowerPoint was very good and nicely done. But his language and his speaking were very weak and he faced some problem in explaining some points. Paul spent the remaining time on this two periods on commenting Abdulla’s presentation because no one was ready to present.

In the next two periods, everyone was ready to present his topic but it was impossible that all the students presented on this two periods, so only six out of nine presented. Omar was the first one and he presented about global warming. Then, Othman and Abdulla Mohamed presented their topic about global warming also, they were in one group. After that, Saif and Waleed presented their topic which was about global warming and climate change and they did a very good presentation. Mohamed Saleh was the last one who presented his topic in this period. It was no time for Paul to asking questions and commenting on the presentations. At the end, I, Hamad and Salem spoke with Paul to do our presentations on Thursday. He accepted that and asked us to come and see him at 12:00 PM.

On Thursday, I, Salem and Hamad presented our topics. I and Salem were about global warming and Hamad topic was about water shortage and pollution. We did a good job as Paul said, he said that our PowerPoint’s were improved from the first one but still we need to improve our speaking because that what lowered our mark.

Week 17

Paul started the first two periods of this week by distributing the rubric for marking our presentation. After that, Mohamed Al Hashmi was the first one who presented his topic which was about E-waste. It was an interesting topic and new for the most students. He did a very god job and it was a nice presentation and he covered all the important points as Paul said. After Mohamed finished, Salah presented his topic which was about Water shortage and consumption. It was a very good presentation and I enjoyed it very much. It was nicely done and Salah with his fluent speaking and his loud voice made it very interesting.

I didn’t attend the second two periods because I was sick and I went to the hospital.

Week 16

Our class students didn’t attended first two periods because they had an English progress test. I used this time to prepare my presentation because I don’t have the English course.

Next two periods, Paul gave us some suggestion for the last presentation, the formal presentation about an environmental issue that we should be ready next week. Saif presented his topic which was about global warming for practice and for Paul commentary. It was not organized and not interesting at all, so Paul gave him some comments and suggestion to modify his presentation slides. Finally, Paul asked us to be ready to present our topics next week properly.

Week 15

First two periods, Waleed started to present his topic which was about Projectors. It was a really bad presentation comparing it to others presentations, not well organized, his slides font and colour were different in each slide and he didn’t know a lot about his topic. After Waleed, I presented my topic which was about artificial intelligence. Paul said it was interesting topic, well organized and my PowerPoint slides were very good looking. But my voice was very low and my language was not good enough I made a lot of mistakes.

Second two periods, Abdulla Mohamed and Hamad presented their topics. Abdulla topic was about robotics and Hamad was about smart board. Both of them did a good presentation but Abdulla was better in speaking than Hamad.

Week 14

First two periods on this week, we continued presenting our topics. Salah was the first one who presented his topic. It was a really good presentation and well organized. He introduced his topic very well; he told us a story about one scientist and his wife that they argued each other for remote control which was the point that this scientist started to think about this problem. Salah was confident and his voice was loud enough and his language was easy to understand. Then, Salem presented his topic after Salah which was about computing mouse. He started his introduction by asking us a question which was what we use to when we use the computer. Paul said it is a good PowerPoint but not interesting topic.

The two second periods, Mohamed Al Hashmei was the first one and he presented his topic about Nanotechnology. It was excellent presentation and the best in our class. Everything was complete and perfect but he made small grammar mistakes. After Mohamed finished, Omar was the second one who presented his topic about atomic clock. He was not confident, not well organized and he was reading a lot from the note that he made.

Week 13

First two periods in this week were for our class students to present their topic and Paul started to put the marks. Saif was the first one who presented his topic which was about the Microprocessor. It was a good presentation and he did a good job. It was some mistakes that Saif did in his presentation like, to much white empty space on the slides and his introduction was not good enough. Also, he didn’t answer Paul questions very well because the lake of knowledge about his topic. Saif was the only one who presented on this class because we didn’t have enough time.

In the next two periods three students presented their topics which were Othman, Mohamed Saleh and Abdulla Saleh. Othman and Mohamed repeated their presentation for the second time and this time Paul counted them. All of them did a good and interesting presentation. Othman topic was about Bluetooth, Mohamed was about superconductor and Abdulla was about AutoCAD.

Week 12

It was a very busy week for us because it the due week for the first presentation in this course. It’s worth 20% of our final grade.

In the first two periods in this week Othman was the first one who presented his presentation after the changes that he made regarding to Paul comments. It was good and interesting presentation. But it could be done better with more effort as Paul said. There was a white space on most slides, not enough pictures related to the topic. After Othman Mohamed Saleh presented his topic, also it was interesting and little bit good from Othman. Also, there was a lot white space and not enough pictures. Finally, at the end of the class Paul asked us to work hard and spent more effort in our presentations.

The next two periods in this week was no classes because of the math conference which HCT organized it at this period. Mr. Paul accepted that to attend this conference and not coming to the class today. But he asked us to keep working on the presentations and try to make it better.

Week 11

Week 10 was the independet learning week, so there was no classes and no one of our class came to the college.


In wee 11, we used the course book in the first two periods. Paul started the class by asking us a general question that where we prefer to spend our vacation, inside the country or outside. After that, he asked us to open the book and he choose one exercise to do it inside the class which was about sex type of vacations and which one we prefer to choose and explain why we choose this choice.
The second two periods was mostly about the same topic. He started the class by speaking little bit about the next assignment which is the presentation for our previous engineering report. Then, he asked us to make a group of two and asking each other some questions about vacations using the course book. Then, we should do a small presentation about our partner answers.

Week 9

In this week, we used the course book in the first two periods. Paul started the class by asking us a general question that where we prefer to spend our vacation, inside the country or outside. Week 8

In this week was only two period because of the English progress test. Mr. Paul started this two period explaining little bit about writing the minutes of meeting for each group and how to write the meeting report individually. Then, at the end of this two period was for me and my group meeting and our topic was about student success. It was interesting for me because that was the first for me to do a meeting. I was the chairman and my friend Abdulla was the note taker and Hamad was the time keeper and Waleed was one of the attendances. I started the meeting by greeting the attendance then I introduce myself and my friend to each other. After that, I introduce the topic and the objective of this meeting. It was nice meeting and I think we did will because it’s only the first time for all group members. Finally, after we finished Mr. Paul gave us a feedback and his opinion about the meeting and he asked us to write the minutes of meeting.

Week 7

This week it was mostly about meeting and arranging the groups to do the meeting. Mr. Paul started first two periods completing the explanation of conducting meetings. He showed us some videos for meetings and explained for us what correct and what wrong on these meetings.
The last two periods two group held their meeting in the class in front of Mr. Paul and other students. The First group was Mohamed Al Hashemi group; they did a very good meeting and it was excellent and there topic was about Strategies to support long distance students socially. The second group and the last group was Saif group and there meeting was also good and interesting and their topic was about Parking in HCT.

Week 6

In this week Paul started to talk about our first assignment which is group meeting. He explained for us and gave us some information about this assignment, how it should be done, what is the requirement to finish it and what topics are possible. At the end of first two periods he asked us to form three groups of four and he gave us four main topics, so each group should take one topic.
He started last two periods by complete explaining about meetings, how we can conduct meetings. Then, he started to talk about agenda, how set up an agenda for meeting. Finally, at the end of class he took the names for the three groups and each group member names, and then he asked each group about their topic. He asked us for next classes to finish the agenda for our topic.

Week 5

The two classes on this week were mainly about presentations skills, how to conduct a good presentation explaining a personal value in three minute maximum. First two periods Paul asked each student to choose a moto and make a short presentation about it. Then, he explained for us about presentations and how we can made good one. After that, he let us to listen for one example done in the book and he asked us to choose our own moto to present it.
Second two periods we listened to some presentations from my friends in the class. After each presentation Paul gave the student who presents some feedback in his presentation and I listened to these feedback and taking notes.

Week 3 & 4

Week 3

Week 3 we had only the two periods on wednesday. At the begaining of these two periods Mr. Paul explained for us about presentations and how we prepair for it, Then, he showed us how to make a blogger for our weekly log. Finally, he gave us a short introduction about the lesson for next week which is about moto in life.

Week 4

Week 4 mostly Mr. Paul speaks about moto's and values. The two classes on monday I didn't attended it because I was sick, but my friends told me that he was speaking about personal values and it's meaning. Then, he asked each one about his personal value and why this value.The two periods on wednesday it was mostly about moto and what it's meaning. He explained for us how to do a presentation about moto and how to prepare for this presentation. Then, he played a record for one person did a presentation about his moto as an example. Finally, he asked us to choose a moto from previous bad situation that happened to us and do a presentation about it next class.

Week 1 & 2

Week 1

LSEC-N101 is one of my courses this semester; it’s mostly about presentations and speaking. It is four classes per a week each class is fifty minutes. First two classes in this week we met our classmate Mr. Paul Grant for the first time and he introduced himself for the class. Then, he started to indentify each student in the class separately by asking him about his name, where he live, how long take him to reach the HCT and some other questions.
The second two classes Mr. Paul explained for us what is the course about and what material will be covered in this course. Also, he mentioned how the marks distributed between the assignments, and which assignment we do it first. Finally, he explained about some assignments in more details especially about the vocabulary log and meeting reports.

Week 2

We started the first two classes in this week in Monday. First, the instructor distributed the course textbook, and he asked us to discover what is in the book and gave him our opinion on it. Then, he showed us the course webpage on the HCT website and explained for us what is important for us. Finally, he took a few minutes to speak about phobia.
The second two periods Mr. Paul told us to make a group of two persons, each one should asks his colleague some questions about himself and write down his answers. After each one finished interviewing his partner, he asked everyone to stand in front of the class and spoke about his colleague. Finally, Mr. Paul gave us last thirty minutes to write our weekly log.
